By plane - From abroad

The wedding is taking place in El Palmar, province of Cádiz, Andalusia (Southern Spain).

The closest airports you can fly to are Seville and Jerez de la Frontera.

Unfortunately, there is no reliable public transport to go from neither of these airports to our location. Our advice is that you hire a car (see “Hiring a car“).

We will try our best to facilitate car sharing for those who are arriving at/leaving from the same airport on the same dates. For this and for 500 other reasons we won’t list here, it is important that you fill in your RSVP form.

Choose the best option for you:

SEVILLE AIRPORT

Distance from location: 101 miles (163 km) – about 1h45 drive

Pros:

  • it offers several options to fly from various destinations in Europe
  • more choice in terms of car rental
  • even though it’s pretty small, it’s the biggest airport of the two

Cons:

  • it is the furthest away from the location

JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA AIRPORT

Distance from location: 48 miles (77 km) – about 55 min drive

Pros:

  • it is the closest to the location

Cons:

  • not many options to fly from Europe
  • less choice in terms of car rental

Additional airports include Gibraltar (97 km, i.e. 60 miles, 1h30) and Malaga (213 km, i.e. 132 miles, 2h30). These may be more convenient for you according to the city you are flying from.

The GPS coordinates to reach the wedding venue are: 36.244007, -6.0766126999999415 (or search for “Ambar – El Palmar” in Google Maps).

Easy peasy!

PS: be careful as there is a nearby town called “El Palmar de Troya” but this is not our location!

By train - From Spain

The wedding is taking place in El Palmar, province of Cádiz, Andalusia (Southern Spain).

The closest train stations to our location are Cádiz and Seville.

If you choose to come by train, please remember that you will still need to hire a car as there is no reliable public transport from neither of these stations to our location (see “Hiring a car).

We will try our best to facilitate car sharing for those who are arriving at/leaving from the same airport on the same dates. For this and for 500 other reasons we won’t list here, it is important that you fill in your RSVP form.

Both Cádiz and Seville can be reached by train from a number of main Spanish cities, including Córdoba, Málaga and Almería (in Andalusia) or Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia (in the rest of Spain).

Hiring a car

Whether you are flying or travelling by train, the only way to get from the airport/train station to our location is hiring a car.

We recommend you book you hire car in advance and that you pick it up from the airport/train station where you arrive. There are a number of options for car hire (“alquiler de coches“) in Seville, Jerez de la Frontera and Cádiz.

Important information to remember about hiring a car:

  • in most cases, the company requires a credit card to pay for your hire car (and won’t accept a debit card). To our knowledge, Goldcar is the only company that accepts payment by debit card;
  • in most cases, the holder of the credit card that was used to make the payment is the only person legally allowed to drive the car. Additional drivers may be added, but this will incur in an increase of the price per day;
  • to avoid a huge amount of money being “blocked” on your credit card (this could be up to €2,000), we recommend you buy insurance upfront which includes the elimination of the excess;
  • a deposit for fuel costs may be blocked on your card upon collection of the car, according to your rental conditions;
  • all driving licences issued in the EU (including UK licences) are valid to hire a car in Spain.
